I was approached by alaTest, a product review comparsion site, to rethink the design of their Review Analysis section. alaTest extracts semantic meaning from reviews on the web, and presents them in a structured and explorable way. I proposed a design that offered high-level quantitative glean-ability, yet encouraged exploration of opinions.
One of my all time favourite projects was for the Toronto Public Library. They were keen to test their initial design of their faceted search solution, and I was brought in to test it with actual patrons in a half a dozen branches of the system. Immediately we discovered several easy opportunities for improvement, and I returned to work on a redesign based on our findings. I even posted a detailed presentation of the experience.
